I confess.
I got influenced.
After seeing everyone raving about Isntree hyaluronic watery sun gel, SPF 50+, I had to try it.
And Heck! I’m always looking for the best sunscreen on the market, so why not?
But here’s the catch—this sunscreen is recommended for dry skin people, and I have combination skin.😑
While I’ve tried many products that are for dry or oily skin: It can be hit or miss.
Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Sun Watery Gel SPF 50
Isntree is a Korean sunscreen that Kolmar Korea manufactures. One of the best manufacturers in Korea that specializes in Sunscreen.
Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Sun Watery Gel SPF 50 is a chemical sunscreen: I always go for chemical sunscreen because they have much better UVA protection and are less likely to give a white cast.
Packaging:
If I have to sum in a word, all I can say is it is mess-free.
If you want, you can skip the ✌ finger rule and directly apply it onto your skin,
since it has a narrow nozzle tip that makes applying sunscreen easy.
The Sunscreen packaging makes it quite travel-friendly.
The cap is well-built and twistable to make sure there is no sunscreen spilling out.
Yet, I wish Korean sunscreen would come in more than 50ml package.
Provided that I’m applying and reapplying this sunscreen every day, it won’t last
more than two weeks. This makes it quite expensive.
Sunscreen that works as a moisturizer too.
Apart from saving you from ☀️ assault, it also hydrates your skin. If you find sunscreen quite drying, this might be a good option for you as it contains 8 different sorts of hyaluronic, Green tea extract, and soothing ingredients like Centella Asiatica that help with redness too.
When I’m wearing this sunscreen, I’m skipping moisturizer.
Light texture but doesn’t spread easily onto your skin.
The sunscreen has a light lotion-like texture but doesn’t spread easily onto your skin.
I have to rub it a little more than I normally do. Rubbing sunscreen too much lowers
the protection level of the sunscreen, as a lot of products transfer into your hands.
To get the labeled protection from your sunscreen, you have to apply the correct amount,
that is 2mg per cm square of your face. For that, you can use whatever method suits you.
The finish is a lot more dewy than I would like. It makes my face super shiny. The shine
doesn’t go away even after an hour or so.
Does it sting your eye?
The one good thing about this sunscreen is how gentle it is. I don’t get any irritation at all.
It doesn’t sting my eye, that’s the feature I like about this product, as most sunscreens easily sting my eye.
Does it leave a white cast?
The sunscreen leaves a temporary white cast on me, which settles down in 2 to 5 minutes.
Is Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Sun Watery Gel SPF 50+ enough for sun protection?
The most important thing I look for in a sunscreen is its UVA protection level.
Because UVA is responsible for premature aging, hyperpigmentation, skin cancer,
and other skin concerns. You might think, “What about UVB”?
The ozone layer absorbs 90% of UVB. And rest is mostly blocked by window glasses.
On the other hand, UVA can travel through glasses and penetrate deeply into your skin.
There is an SPF rating to ensure we are getting protection from the sun.
SPF protects you from UVB. And SPF over 11 protects you from both UVB and some UVA.
But SPF alone doesn’t give us a wider range of UVA protection. Therefore, we need
another system to tackle UVA protection. But there isn’t a standard for UVA protection.
Different countries use different methods. Like the PA+ scale, widely used in Asian sunscreen.
Isntree sunscreen also has PA++++ This is the highest level of protection we get from UVA
on the PA+ rating scale.
Another way to ensure UVA protection level is by checking sunscreen filters.
Isntree Sunscreen has 6 strong UV filters
- Tinosorb S
- Tinosorb M
- Uvinul A plus
- Homosalate
- Octisalate
- Parsol SLX
Tinosorb S, Tinosorb M, and Uvinul A plus are good against UVA and are photostable too, meaning it won’t break down in UV light.
While Sunscreen is important against UV, I would recommend not to solely rely on just sunscreen; it won’t give 100 % protection.
Use multiple forms of protection like Sunglasses, wear UV protective clothing, reapply sunscreen, and avoid Sun in peak hours.
In Essence
Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Sun Watery Gel is a decent sunscreen.
You might love this if you have dry or balanced skin or are into the dewy look.
It is one of the most gentle sunscreens I’ve tried.
Though not for oily skin or tropical climates.
I won’t buy this again. It doesn’t give the finish I would like.
I rather go for Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-touch SPF50+ in winter.
It has more UVA protection, a dry yet smooth finish, and is pretty affordable too.
Pros:
Gentle sunscreen that’s suitable for acne-prone or sensitive skin types.
Fragrance-Free
Travel-friendly
Work for Dry to normal skin, combo skin winter
Cons:
Only come in 50ml
Not for people who love the flat finish.
Might give you a white cast.
Not suitable for oily skin or tropical climates.
