Cerave Moisturising Cream— Review

Cerave Moisturizing Cream

Problems of having a combination skin— finding a good moisturizer for winter, as all the winter moisturizers are too heavy, and lightweight lotions aren’t enough for your skin.

Heck! It gets even worse if you have dehydration-prone and acne-prone skin like me.

You want a moisturizer that’s easily absorbed onto your skin. That is gentle and fragrance-free and can be used on the damaged skin barrier.  After using Cerave for three months, I can say it’s unlike any moisturizer I’ve tried till now.

Cerave moisturizing cream

Cerave moisturizing cream is a thick cream that is recommended for dry to very dry skin and eczema or other skin conditions that have compromised the skin barrier.

It’s a multipurpose cream that can be used all over your body, but this isn’t a unique feature.

Every cream that markets itself for the face can be used all over your body.

With the brand patent, MVE technology is designed to keep your skin hydrated for a longer period. So that your skin doesn’t feel like sandpaper after a few hours of using the moisturizer.

It contains 3 essential ceramides, that are naturally present in our skin. Ceramides are good for skin barrier repair, but not necessary, more on that later.

The texture is thicck, yet leaves no shine.

The texture is thick, creamy, and smooth. It goes on super smoothly and just sinks into your skin.

This is the feature that made me love this cream so much. I was dealing with dehydration a lot this winter, and Cerave lotion wasn’t cutting it for me.

And I hate the feeling of heavy-duty moisturizer that sits on my face, never fully absorbed. But this cream despite its thick texture left no residue on my skin. It’s almost vanished and left my skin smooth.

After seeing the effects on my face, I also decided to use it on my hands. My hands are the driest part of my body.

I have a habit of over-washing my hands and thus left with dry, wrinkly, flaky, red hands. I don’t like hand moisturizers or any heavy moisturizer on my hands during the daytime; I don’t like my hands being drenched in a greasy, sticky, lumpy mess.

Yet, I enjoyed the Cervae moisturizer on my hand. While my hands haven’t fully recovered, I didn’t get those painful red patches on my hands this winter.

Long Lasting hydration.

Don’t you hate when you have to constantly re-apply your lotion? I sure do.

Cerave does such a good job of keeping my skin from flaking off all day. I don’t need to reapply moisturizer throughout the day, as it keeps me hydrated all day.😌

Does Cerave moisturizer clog pores?

I feel like I could dedicate a whole post to how some market labels are pseudo-science and exist mostly to produce fear rather than to help the customer.

Non-comedogenic is one of them. Non-comedogenic rating will never tell you if the product will clog your pores or not. What product, or ingredients, will clog your pores depends on a lot of factors.

Considering this, coconut oil is rated as highly comedogenic, yet I can drown myself in it without having a single breakout. That’s why you have to try products to see if they clog your pores or not.

Cerave doesn’t cause any breakout or clog my pores. Nevertheless, this may or may not be your experience.

Is Cerave or Ceramides base moisturizer best for barrier recovery?

Cerave or Ceramides base moisturizer helps to recover your damaged barrier, but not using Cerave will still recover your skin barrier.

Dump the popular myth that Cerave is the best in barrier recovery. There are multiple ways to repair and build your barrier. When it comes to pulling around your barrier, nothing works like a minimal skincare routine consisting of a gentle cleanser and moisturizer.

The best moisturizer is what you would find affordable and want to wear every day.

This is the Cerave for me, I love it for the long-lasting hydration and flat finish.

Love this as a hand cream too.

In Essence

The Cerave moisturizing cream is for anyone who wants a flat finish, and hydration all day.

It contains Ceramides and other great ingredients like hyaluronic acid to protect and heal your barrier.

It is a gentle and non-fragrance moisturizer that is designed for people even with sensitive skin.

Despite the thick texture, it leaves no residue on your skin and makes your skin smooth and supple.

I love it for my face and body in winter. I wouldn’t use it in tropical summer, as the texture would make me sweat a lot.

Pros :

Absorbs quickly into your skin.

No greasy or dewy finish.

Fragrance-free.

Provide long-lasting hydration to your skin.

Easy to use all over your body.

Comes in various sizes, from 50ml to 454 g.

Cons:

Flat finish (only a problem if you like a dewy or shiny finish)

Might sting for some sensitive folks out there.

Some people might not like this due to its thick texture.
